Ginseng increases Klotho expression by FoxO3-mediated manganese superoxide dismutase in a mouse model of tacrolimus-induced renal injury

(A and B) Histological analysis in the renal cortex in mice treated with Tac for 4 weeks showed striped tubulointerstitial fibrosis, mononuclear cell infiltration, and tubular atrophy. KRGP treatment significantly reduced these damages compared with those caused by Tac treatment. (C–F) Immunoblotting analysis of e-cadherin, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) in the renal cortex. The relative optical densities of bands in each lane were normalized to that of each β-actin band in the same gel.
